SNDdeN Board of Directors Orientation – West Coast

This orientation program introduces board members to the mission, spirituality, and governance framework of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the sponsored ministries they serve. Participants explore the story of St. Julie Billiart, the Notre Dame de Namur Hallmarks, Catholic Social Teaching, and the concept of mission integration—how the charism and values of the Sisters are woven into every aspect of a school, healthcare center, or ministry. The program emphasizes collaborative leadership, stewardship, and the responsibility of board members to protect and advance the mission through thoughtful governance and decision-making.

In addition to mission formation, the orientation provides practical guidance on nonprofit governance, fiduciary duties, board responsibilities, strategic oversight, and financial literacy. Through discussion, reflection, and real-world scenarios, board members gain a clearer understanding of their role in supporting the Head of Ministry, ensuring accountability, fostering sustainability, and helping lead the ministry into a vibrant future rooted in the values of justice, dignity, community, and service.
